People are starting to ask an AI assistant to handle small errands, ordering lunch among them. A Tayim restaurant can be one of the places that assistant is actually able to order from, through an open standard called MCP. It is a new channel, it costs no commission, and it is already running in production at one restaurant.

What MCP is, without the jargon

An AI assistant, however clever, is a consultant locked in a room with no phone. It knows a lot, but it cannot call anyone. MCP is the phone.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard that lets an AI assistant connect to an outside service and actually do something: read your live menu, price a basket, place an order. Your MCP endpoint is the number the assistant dials when a customer says they want food from you.

Why a restaurant would want this

A channel nobody else is in yet

Aggregator listings are a crowded shelf. Being the restaurant an assistant can actually order from is, for now, close to empty shelf space.

Zero commission, like the rest of Tayim

Orders land in the same system as your website orders. No marketplace takes a cut and no one stands between you and the customer.

It is your menu, live

The assistant reads the same menu, prices, offers and opening hours your website uses. Change a price once and every channel follows.

You still own the customer

The order carries the customer name and phone into your POS, exactly like an order placed on your own site.

How an order actually happens

Four steps, in this order, every time:

A real one you can test right now

BAH Food, a restaurant in Bucharest running on this stack, has had an MCP endpoint in production since August 2026. It is public: you can connect an assistant to it yourself and read its menu without ordering anything.

  • Six tools: restaurant info, menu, product options, price a basket, place an order, order status.
  • Payment is cash or card at the door only. The assistant never handles money.
  • Prices are recomputed by the restaurant, so an assistant cannot invent a total.
  • Orders outside opening hours are refused, not queued.

What setting it up looks like for you

Nothing to install, nothing to maintain. The work is ours, and it is mostly configuration:

1. You are already on Tayim

Your menu, prices, offers and opening hours are in one place. That is the hard part, and it is done.

2. We switch on your endpoint

We enable an MCP address for your restaurant and decide with you which fulfilment types and payment methods are allowed on this channel.

3. You publish the address

It goes on your site and your social profiles, the way you would publish a phone number. Customers add it to their assistant once.

We are switching this on restaurant by restaurant rather than flipping it for everyone, because a channel that places real orders deserves a conversation about opening hours, payment and capacity first.

What the assistant is not allowed to do

The design assumption is that an AI assistant must never be able to do something irreversible on its own.

  • It cannot take payment. Cash or card at the door, settled by a human with the food in hand.
  • It cannot set prices. It sends products and quantities; your restaurant computes the total.
  • It cannot order for someone without their explicit confirmation.
  • It cannot order when you are closed.
  • It cannot order more than a sane number of times per hour from the same place.

What is an MCP server for a restaurant?+

It is an address an AI assistant can connect to in order to read a restaurant’s live menu and place an order on the customer’s behalf. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard that makes this work the same way across different assistants.

Which AI assistants can order through it?+

Any assistant that can add a remote MCP server over HTTP. In practice that includes Claude, ChatGPT and developer tools such as Cursor. The customer adds the address once, then talks normally.

Does the customer pay through the AI?+

No. On the installation we run today, payment is cash or card at the door only. No card details are ever requested through this channel, which removes a whole category of risk from a very new way of ordering.

Can the assistant get the price wrong?+

It cannot set the price at all. The assistant sends only products and quantities, and the restaurant recomputes the total from its live menu, including active offers and the delivery fee. The number the customer confirms is the number the kitchen sees.

Which Tayim plan includes MCP ordering?+

The paid plans: Solo (39 EUR/month) and Multi (119 EUR/month). It is not part of the free Starter plan, which covers the online menu and orders. There is no extra fee on top of the subscription and no commission per order.

Is this available on Tayim today?+

It is live and publicly testable at BAH Food, which runs on this stack. For other Tayim restaurants we enable it one at a time rather than as a blanket switch, so contact us on a paid plan and we will set it up with you.

Does it replace my website or phone orders?+

No. It is one more door. The menu, the phone and the website stay exactly where they are, and orders from every channel land in the same POS.
